Meet Dana and Paul Weiler, Team for Life Participants

Dana and Paul Weiler, married for over 25 years, are both Bay Area natives. Both work diligently in their professional and personal lives to maintain the values that draw people to the Diablo Valley. As long-time residents of the area, the Weilers keep their fingers on the pulse of events that shape their business, social, and economic opportunities. Their community involvement includes supporting a variety of local organizations - through fundraising and the gift of time - including  Habitat for Humanity, Save Mt. Diabo, the American Cancer Society, The Taylor Foundation, Stand Against Domestic Violence and the Lazarex Cancer Foundation.

"We first heard about Lazarex in 2007 when we were invited to attend a fundraising event by some good friends of ours.  We had been to many fundraisers in the past but this one was different!  We heard directly from the scientists about the journey that brought them to the development of an amazing new cancer therapy.  The most moving part of the evening was hearing the stories of hope and gratitude from cancer survivors that benefitted so greatly from this treatment.  It was clear this new therapy was truly a gift of life for these survivors. We also heard from the families of cancer patients that were not as fortunate and their profound gratitude for the gift of additional quality time together with a loved one this treatment was able to give them.

The one thing that struck us the most was the stories we heard about success, hope and quality of life that evening were coming from people that would not be able to afford this treatment on their own.  This astonishing new cancer treatment is not covered by insurance and is very expensive.  As we found out, Lazarex was on a mission to ensure even those that could not financially afford this superb new treatment would be able to do so.  Needless to say, we were very moved and recognized what a worthy and noble cause Lazarex was.  From that evening forward we made the commitment to support Lazarex in any way we could so those in need but without resources could receive the gift of hope." -- Dana Weiler
